Sacramento River Rainbow Trout

Fishing for rainbow trout is quite an experience, and we take pride in providing a fun and productive day of fishing.

Sacramento River is a good place for fly fishing, back drifting plugs and artificial bait.  Nymph-fishing is the most productive way to catch trout year-round.  The best time to back drift plugs is spring through late summer.  From September to early winter we switch to egg patterns like yarn flies or glow bugs.  Rainbow trout feed heavily on salmon eggs from the late fall to early winter salmon runs.  That is probably the best time to catch a football-sized rainbow trout in the Sacramento River
